Am I broke?

It’s not my primary account because I would be vomiting non-stop knowing that I was $188 in the hole, but my fun money account is looking like I won’t be having any fun this weekend. I’m such an idiot.
I’ve had so much credit fraud I’m scared to use the debit card from my primary account a lot. So I opened up another one where I keep a minimal amount of money. That way if anyone does get the card info, they won’t get more than a couple hundred dollars or so. Right now if they stole my info they would owe money. Here’s what I don’t get though. They send me this little “you’re a loser with no money” cards in the mail with a rundown of charges and fees to show how I am so in the hole. Somehow I have a $.01 charge with a $38 bank fee attached to it. Does it make sense that I would charge a penny and why can’t they loan me the stupid penny since I have never been overdrawn before and hopefully never will be again? I’m thinking about marching into the bank and refusing to pay that fee because, truth be told I only spent like $12 I didn’t have in the account. But by the time they add up all the fees and junk I am negative balance. But I am too ashamed of my lack of money to show my face. And I don’t know how to transfer money from one account to the other nor do I even know how to deposit money into this account. I didn’t order checks so I don’t have any slips. I guess I could take one of my “you’re a broke loser” cards and find the account number somewhere on there. I guess.
I want to get a skill that I am really good at. I can’t sing all that good. I dance for fun and to be the center of attention, but I’m not sure that I’m great at that, either. I’m OK at my job, but I get paid to do that. Could I knit? Could I read books in my spare time? I’m not a good reader, either, because my eyes get too sleepy. And I used to stutter when I was little so my confidence is not really there. I’ll have to make a list of things that I might have the real potential of being good at and explore it a little further.
Flo-Rhonda…I thought it was hysterical. I guess that maybe I’m the only one. But I worked so hard co-writing the song. Maybe I’m a little too close to the song, like Kellie said. It’s kind of like my little run as M C Lazy I. I loved it and thought it had years of career boosting potential. But I was the only one. Anyway, thanks for listening to the two that we put together. I’d put up my own poll to see if anyone liked it if I knew how. Put putting up polls on the web as something else I’m not good at. Anyway, I think I’m pissy right now so I will stop typing and go kick dirt or something. Have a fantastic day.

your situation is not as gloomy as the economic situation of the country as a whole…the world is facing a total economic collapse…if you were to have a child today…they WILL be paying a minimum of 60% of their wages to pay the interest on the national deficit…thank the democraps for that.

I know exactly where you are coming from. i had a serious case of debit fraud recently and decided to not put all my money in the bank and all of a sudden i had a negative account. i guess i got qvc crazy and forgot that i only had a small amount in the bank. i hate banks but i also hate having my money on me because i will spend it easier. don’t feel bad, it happens to all.

Just call the bank, they will usually always reverse the fees for you. Don’t worry, it has happened to us all before.

Shanon – you are waaaay to hard on yourself. I am completely anal about my accounts and somehow I overdrew once. Go talk to your bank, you might be suprised what you can get credited back. Lighten up on Shanon!

MOST banks will refund some, if not all of the NSF’s – if you have been with them a long time & this is the first time this has happened. You just have to go in & ask. Tell them that it was a mistake on your part & you had the money available in your other account.
You can go in & transfer money without a banking account #, just give them your drivers license / social

2 things:
1. Flo Rhonda was hilarious! Very funny stuff.
2. Don’t be ashamed. There have been other people who’ve had worse financial situations that you, so go talk to the people at the bank. That’s why they’re there. That’s $0.01 charge with the bank fee sounds suspicious. I’d definitely get that checked out.

Don’t be so hard on yourself. Things like this happen. The key is that they don’t happen continiously. You’ll be alright.
Also, I agree, head to that bank and give them heck. Stupid banks!

ANYWAY, Shanon I loved the Flo-Rhonda bit. I was laughing out loud and I don’t know why Kidd didn’t think it was funny, but maybe it was because of the DK folks. I must admit I stopped listening when they were talking because I “just don’t care” about them and their career. If you bank online, you can email them and ask as many questions as you want about charges on your account and you can tell them you don’t believe you should be charged an NSF fee for a penny charge. Most of the time they will out of courtesy credit you back. Oh, also ask them about transfering money, you may be able to do it online if your accoutns are linked. Good luck and you sound like you’re doing great!!! One more thing, I love what you and JC did with the Jordin Sparks song, awesome!!!

Comment writers: If you see a comment that has nothing to do with Shanon’s blog or blantanly obvious the comment is meant to spark people to address them then don’t comment on that, you are contributing to the problem. Although this is common sense it seems as though if maybe I write this you will get it…everytime you do they succeed in hooking you and they feel validated. We should respect Shanon’s blog as well as all other members of the show who blog. The best thing to do is IGNORE those who make absurd comments and when they stop getting attention they will seek it somewhere else. It’s so tiring seeing the commenters banter back and forth. I was told that people that steal account numbers will charge very small amounts to see if the account is still active before making large purchases. Not sure if anyone would charge 1 cent though! Just my 2 cents about your 1 cent!
